Explains Psalms 24

📖 Psalm 24 — The Holiness of God and Who May Approach Him

Psalm 24, written by King David, is a powerful declaration of who God ishow holy He is, and who is fit to come into His presence. It moves in three clear steps—like approaching God from a distance, drawing near, and then standing before Him.

1. 🌍 God Owns Everything (Verses 1–2)

“The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof…”

David begins by establishing something vital:
God is not just holy—He is the rightful owner of all creation.

Everything belongs to Him:

  • The earth
  • The people
  • Every breath we take

This matters because it means we don’t approach God as equals—we come before the One who made us, owns us, and sustains us.

2. ⛰️ Who Can Approach a Holy God? (Verses 3–6)

“Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?”

This is the heart of your question.

David asks: Who is worthy to come near to such a holy God?

And the answer is searching:

✔️ The One Who May Approach:

  • Clean hands → right actions
  • Pure heart → right motives
  • No idols → no divided loyalty
  • Truthful life → no deceit

This shows something very clear:

👉 God is not only concerned with what we do,
but also with who we are inside.

⚠️ Who Cannot Approach God?

By implication, those who cannot approach the Almighty are:

  • Those living in sin without repentance
  • Those with unclean motives
  • Those who love falsehood
  • Those who put other things before God (idolatry)

This is not about perfection—but about purity, sincerity, and truth.

God’s holiness means:

Sin cannot casually walk into His presence.

3. 👑 The King of Glory Enters (Verses 7–10)

“Lift up your heads, O ye gates… and the King of glory shall come in!”

This is a triumphant scene—like gates opening for a conquering King.

David describes God as:

  • The King of Glory
  • The Lord strong and mighty
  • The Lord mighty in battle

This reveals:
👉 The One we approach is not only holy—He is powerful, victorious, and glorious.

🔥 The Big Message of Psalm 24

Psalm 24 teaches three deep truths:

1. God is absolutely holy

He is pure, righteous, and set apart.

2. Not everyone can approach Him

Only those who are cleansed and sincere can draw near.

3. Yet God invites people to seek Him

“This is the generation of them that seek Him…”

God is not shutting people out—
He is calling people up to holiness.

A Deeper Spiritual Insight

Psalm 24 shows a problem:

👉 Who truly has clean hands and a pure heart?

Left to ourselves—none of us fully qualify.

That’s why this Psalm ultimately points forward to the need for:

  • cleansing
  • forgiveness
  • a changed heart

It shows us:

We don’t naturally meet God’s standard—
we must be made ready to stand before Him.

🙏 Simple Takeaway

  • God is holy beyond measure
  • Sin cannot stand before Him
  • Only those made clean can draw near
  • But God invites us to seek Him with a true heart
