His Mercy Endureth For Ever

Inspired by Psalm 107

O give ye thanks unto the Lord,
And praise His holy name;
His mercy lasts for evermore,
His goodness stays the same.

They wandered through the wilderness,
No city could they see;
They cried unto the Lord above,
And He did set them free.

Some sat within the darkest night,
In sorrow, bound with chain;
They called upon the mighty Lord,
Who broke their bonds of pain.

He brought them from the shadowed place,
And opened prison’s door;
He broke the bars of iron apart,
And made them slaves no more.

He sent His Word and healed their wounds,
And heard their troubled cry;
His loving hand delivered them,
For God was ever nigh.

The sailors battled mighty waves,
The storm began to roar;
Their courage failed upon the sea,
They feared they’d reach no shore.

Then unto God they raised their cry,
And He rebuked the sea;
The raging waves became a calm,
And thankful hearts were free.

So praise the Lord for all His love,
For wonders great and true;
The God who rescued them of old,
Is still our refuge too.

When storms arise and darkness falls,
And hope seems far away;
Cry out unto the Lord your God—
He hears us when we pray.

His mercy endureth for ever,
His faithfulness never shall cease;
The Lord who delivers the troubled
Can turn every tempest to peace.
