Trusting God when all is failing

📖 A Story Based on Psalm Chapter 9

There once was a man named Eli who lived in a small town surrounded by trouble. Wicked men had grown strong in the land. They lied, cheated, and mocked those who trusted in God. Many people kept silent out of fear—but Eli would not.

Every morning, before the sun rose, Eli would walk to a quiet hill. There, he would lift his hands and say:

“Lord, I will praise You with my whole heart. I will remember all the good You have done.”

People wondered why he praised God when life seemed so hard. But Eli had learned something others had not—he remembered what God had done before.

One day, the trouble grew worse. A group of men falsely accused Eli, trying to ruin his name. They laughed and said, “Where is your God now?”

Eli felt the weight of their words, but instead of fighting back, he whispered:

“Lord, You are my defender. You see what is right.”

And though it seemed nothing happened at first, something began to change. The lies that were spoken started to unravel. The very traps the wicked had set began to catch them instead. One by one, their schemes fell apart.

The town began to see it—not Eli’s strength, but God’s justice at work.

As time passed, those who had been oppressed started coming to Eli. The poor, the broken, the forgotten. They asked him:

“Why do you still trust God when everything looked lost?”

Eli smiled gently and said,

“Because the Lord sits on His throne forever. He is not blind to our pain. He is a refuge for those who run to Him.”

And he would tell them, “God does not forget you—even when the world does.”

One evening, as the sky turned gold, Eli stood again on that quiet hill. But this time, he was not alone. Many had joined him.

Together they lifted their voices:

“Sing praises to the Lord! Declare His works among the people!”

And the sound of praise rose higher than the noise of fear.

But Eli’s prayer did not end with praise. He looked out over the land and said:

“Arise, O Lord. Let the nations know they are only men.”

For he knew something deep in his heart:

No matter how powerful evil may seem,
God is greater.

And from that day forward, the people remembered:

  • That God sees
  • That God judges rightly
  • That God lifts up the humble
  • And that no cry goes unheard

 The Message of the Story

Even when the world feels unfair…
Even when the wicked seem strong…

God is still on the throne.
He remembers you.
He fights for you.

And in His perfect time—
He will make all things right. 🙏
