To God Alone Be All the Glory
A Poem Inspired by Psalm 115
Not unto us, O Lord, we pray,
But glorify Your name today;
For mercy that will never cease,
And truth that fills our hearts with peace.
Our God is seated high above,
And rules the world with perfect love;
Though unbelieving voices say,
“Where is your God in trials today?”
Our God is living, strong and true;
There is no task He cannot do.
Though we may not perceive His hand,
He reigns according to His plan.
The idols made of silver and gold
Can neither hear nor hands behold;
Their mouths are silent, eyes are blind,
No help or comfort can we find.
The idols of our modern day—
Our wealth, our pride and vain display—
Will disappoint and quickly fall,
But Jesus Christ is Lord of all.
O Israel, trust the Lord above;
He is your shield, your help and love.
All those who fear His holy name
Will find His promises remain.
The Lord remembers every prayer;
Through every sorrow, He is there.
He sees the tears that no one knows
And stays beside us through our woes.
He blesses both the great and small,
And hears the weakest when they call.
No faithful soul is overlooked,
For every name is in His book.
While we have breath, our song shall rise
To Him who reigns beyond the skies;
From now throughout eternity,
We’ll praise the One who set us free.
Not unto us—no praise we claim;
All glory to His holy name.
Our help, our hope and victory
Belong to God eternally.
“But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.” — Psalm 115:18
