Poem -Psalm 28 -David Cry

Psalm 28 — “The Cry and the Rock”

The Cry and the Rock

O Lord, my Rock, to Thee I cry,
Be not as One who passes by.
If Thou be silent, hope is gone,
And I am left to weep alone.

My hands I raise, my voice I plead,
From depths where wounded hearts do bleed.
Toward Thy throne my spirit flies,
With trembling faith and tear-filled eyes.

Count me not with hearts untrue,
Who speak of peace, yet evil do.
Their lips are smooth, their ways are wide,
But darkness dwells their words inside.

O righteous Judge, Thy truth declare,
For Thou dost see what men don’t share.
No hidden path, no secret way,
Escapes Thy light or righteous sway.

But blessed be the Lord above!
He heard my cry, He showed me love.
Though silence seemed to fill the sky,
His ear was near my faintest cry.

The Lord my strength, my shield, my stay,
He turns my night to dawning day.
My heart believed, my fears took flight,
And songs arose from darkest night.

Now, Lord, Thy people I commend,
Be Thou their Shepherd, Guide, and Friend.
Lift them, keep them, hold them fast,
And carry them till life is past.
