Poem - On Psalm 38
When sorrow falls like heavy rain,
And guilt brings heartache, grief, and pain,
When silent tears begin to flow,
And no one sees the hurt below,
The weary soul cries out to God,
While walking on a broken road,
Like David bowed in deep despair,
Yet found the Lord still listened there.
“My sins,” he cried, “are over me,
A storm upon a troubled sea,”
His strength was weak, his heart was torn,
He felt rejected and forlorn.
His friends stood back, his foes drew near,
His nights were filled with doubt and fear,
Yet still he turned his face above,
To seek the Father’s grace and love.
For mercy shines where hearts repent,
And grace is found where tears are spent,
The Lord still hears the sinner’s cry,
And lifts the soul cast down to die.
So when your burdens press like stone,
Remember this — you’re not alone,
For God is near the soul in pain,
And broken hearts He will sustain.
Through darkest night His light shall be,
A harbour on life’s raging sea,
For those who seek the Lord in prayer,
Will always find His mercy there.
