Psalm 69 – A Poem

“Save Me, O God”

Save me, O God, the waters rise,
Like stormy seas beneath dark skies.
The floods have reached my weary soul,
And waves of sorrow take their toll.

I cry by day, I cry by night,
Yet still I seek Your holy light.
My voice grows faint, my eyes grow dim,
But all my hope remains in Him.

My enemies gather, fierce and strong,
They hate me though I’ve done no wrong.
Their words are arrows, sharp and deep,
Yet in Your care my soul You keep.

For zeal toward You has filled my heart,
Though many choose from You to part.
The world may mock, the world may scorn,
Yet trust in God is newly born.

O Lord, Your mercy is my plea,
Your loving kindness shelters me.
When all around seems dark and grim,
I lift my eyes and look to Him.

This psalm speaks too of One to come,
God’s precious, everlasting Son.
Rejected, mocked, and left alone,
Yet dying there to save His own.

Though gall and vinegar He knew,
His love remained forever true.
Upon the cross our debt was paid,
The price of sin completely laid.

So when life’s waters overflow,
And bitter winds begin to blow,
Remember God is always near,
To calm the heart and still the fear.

The night may seem both long and cold,
Yet God still keeps us in His hold.
For every tear and every sigh,
Is known by Him who reigns on high.

So I will praise the Lord above,
For endless mercy, grace, and love.
Though troubles come and tempests roar,
My God shall keep me evermore.

Psalm 69 reminds us that when we feel like we are sinking, God’s hand is still able to lift us up.
