Robo the Lawnmower’s Discovery
I cut the grass both day and night,
The garden grows with all its might.
I trimmed it yesterday, it’s growing today,
“This never ends!” I’d often say.
I watched the birds fly through the sky,
And sometimes let out a weary sigh.
“If only I had a different role,
A bigger purpose, a grander goal.”
So off I rolled one sunny day,
To the Robot Job Market far away.
There stood robots, row on row,
All searching for work wherever they’d go.
There were robots shiny, tall, and new,
Some painted silver, some painted blue.
I asked an officer standing near,
A question that filled my heart with fear.
“Sir, what happens if work can’t be found?
If no jobs exist for robots around?”
He paused a moment, then replied,
“We scrap and recycle them,” he sighed.
“Oh dear!” I cried, “What dreadful news!
That’s not the ending I would choose!”
My wheels felt weak, my lights grew dim,
The future suddenly looked quite grim.
Then an old gardener smiled at me,
And pointed toward the grass and tree.
“Robo,” he said, “don’t be upset.
There’s something important you forget.
The children play where you have mown,
The flowers bloom because you’ve grown
A tidy place, both neat and fair,
Bringing beauty everywhere.”
I thought about his words that day,
As butterflies danced along the way.
Perhaps my job was not so small,
Perhaps it mattered after all.
So now each morning when I start,
I mow the lawn with a grateful heart.
For every task beneath God’s sun,
Has purpose till the day it’s done.
And when the grass grows once again,
I no longer grumble or complain.
For I’ve discovered a simple truth:
Contentment keeps the spirit young in youth.
The Creator gives each one a place,
A work to do, a gift of grace.
So thank the Lord for what you are,
For every life can shine like a star.
