Proverbs Chapter 4 -Guard Your Heart
Here’s a rhyming poem based on Proverbs 4, written in style, —clear, flowing, and devotional:
The Path of Wisdom – Proverbs 4
O hear, my son, incline thine ear,
Let words of wisdom draw thee near,
For truth once learned and held so tight,
Will guide thy steps in darkest night.
Forget her not, nor let her go,
For she will keep thee safe below,
Exalt her high, she’ll lift thee too,
A crown of grace she’ll place on you.
There are two roads before thy feet,
One dark, one bright, both clear to meet,
The wicked’s way is filled with night,
But righteous paths shine ever bright.
They stumble on and cannot see,
Bound in sin’s captivity,
But those who walk in heaven’s light,
Grow brighter still from morn till night.
Above all else, guard well thy heart,
For from it life’s true issues start,
What enters in will soon be shown,
In word and deed, in seed that’s sown.
Let not thy lips speak false or vain,
Let truth and grace within remain,
Set straight thy gaze, don’t turn aside,
Let God alone thy footsteps guide.
Turn not to paths that lead to fall,
Avoid their way, forsake it all,
Walk ever on the narrow road,
That leads thee upward unto God.
O child of God, take heed today,
Choose wisdom’s light, walk in His way,
For those who trust and do what’s right,
Shall dwell in everlasting light.
