Psalm 64 – A Prayer in the Storm

When whispered words like arrows fly,
And hidden schemes beneath me lie,
When tongues are sharp and hearts are cold,
I turn to God, my Rock of old.

The wicked gather in the night,
They hide themselves away from sight,
They think no eye can see their way,
Yet God beholds both night and day.

Their swords are words, their darts are lies,
They seek to wound and criticize,
But every secret, every plan,
Is known before the Lord of man.

Though shadows fall and fears arise,
The Lord looks down from heaven’s skies,
His justice never sleeps nor fades,
He sees beyond earth’s dark charades.

Then God releases truth’s bright ray,
And drives the clouds of doubt away,
The traps once laid for others’ feet,
Become the place of their defeat.

The righteous lift their hearts and sing,
For God remains their sheltering King,
His faithful hand is strong and sure,
His promises forever endure.

So when harsh voices fill the air,
And burdens seem too much to bear,
Remember God is standing near,
To calm your heart and still your fear.

For though the arrows round you fall,
The Lord is greater than them all,
And those who trust His holy name,
Will never be put to shame.

Psalm 64 reminds us still,
God guards His own and does His will;
The wicked fade, but truth shall stand,
Secure within the Master’s hand.
