Psalm 83 – The God Who Reigns

By George (inspired by Psalm 83)

When enemies gather from far and near,
And God’s own children live in fear,
The saints look up with hearts that pray,
“Lord, arise and show Your way.”

The nations boast with pride and might,
They seek to quench God’s holy light.
They say, “We’ll wipe His people away,”
But God still rules both night and day.

The God who parted seas of old,
Whose mighty power cannot be told,
Is still the Lord of earth and sky,
The Most High God forever nigh.

He broke the power of kingdoms proud,
He scattered armies like a cloud.
The battles won in days gone by
Remind us God is always nigh.

Though evil seems to gain the ground,
God’s faithfulness will still abound.
No scheme of man, no hostile hand,
Can overthrow His sovereign plan.

Yet in His mercy shines His grace,
He calls the lost to seek His face.
His heart desires that all may know
The Lord from whom all blessings flow.

So when the storms around you roar,
And trials knock upon your door,
Lift up your eyes, let faith remain,
For God forevermore shall reign.

“That men may know that Thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the Most High over all the earth.”
— Psalm 83:18
