Here’s an original poem inspired by Psalm 90.
Our Eternal Dwelling – Psalm 90
Before the mountains touched the sky,
Before the stars were hung on high,
Before the oceans found their place,
Our God was there in boundless grace.
Through every age, through every land,
He holds creation in His hand.
Though kingdoms fade and empires fall,
The Lord remains the Lord of all.
Our lives are like the morning dew,
A passing mist the sunlight knew.
Like meadow flowers bright at dawn,
By evening’s light their bloom is gone.
Our days are few, our years are brief,
Marked by both joy and tears of grief.
Yet every heartbeat God has given
Can point our souls along to Heaven.
“Lord, teach us how to count our days,
To walk with Thee in all our ways.
Give hearts of wisdom from above,
To live by faith and walk in love.”
Forgive the sins that stain the soul,
Restore the broken, make us whole.
Let mercy meet us every morn,
With hope renewed and courage born.
Be Thou our refuge, strong and true,
Our dwelling place our whole life through.
When earthly strength begins to cease,
Thy presence fills the heart with peace.
Establish, Lord, the work we do;
May all bring honour, Lord, to You.
Not for our praise or fleeting fame,
But for the glory of Thy name.
When all our earthly days are past,
And we behold Thy face at last,
We’ll sing through all eternity,
“Our dwelling place, O Lord, is Thee.”
