When God Feels Far Away” (Psalm Chapter 10)

“When God Feels Far Away” (Psalm Chapter 10)

O Lord, why stand so far from me,
When trouble roars like a raging sea?
The wicked rise, their voices loud,
They boast in sin, they walk so proud.

They say within, “God does not see,
There’s none above to answer me.”
They crush the poor, the weak they bind,
No fear of God is in their mind.

They lurk in shadows, hearts so cold,
They chase the helpless for their gold,
Like lions waiting in the night,
They strike the weak without a fight.

And I have cried, “O Lord, how long?
Why does it seem the cruel grow strong?”
My eyes have seen what should not be—
The wrong exalted shamelessly.

But deep within, a flame remains,
A truth that rises through the pains:
Though men may mock and proudly say,
“My God is blind… He’s far away…”

You see it all, You know each deed,
You hear the cry of those in need.

No tear is lost, no wound unseen,
You judge the heart, both foul and clean.

Arise, O Lord! Lift up Your hand!
Let justice flow across this land!
Break every chain the wicked made,
Let not the helpless be afraid.

For You are King forevermore,
Above all powers, above all war,
The proud will fall, their voices cease,
But You will bring the humble peace.

So when it feels You’re far away,
And night has swallowed up the day,
I’ll trust the truth my heart has known—
I am not left… I’m not alone.

For though You seem so far to me,
You are the God who still does see…
