Poem on
Psalm 53
“The Fool Has Said”
“The fool has said, there is no God,”
Yet walks beneath the skies,
Ignoring all the works of grace
Displayed before his eyes.
The heavens tell His mighty hand,
The stars shine through the night,
Creation whispers every day,
“The Lord is truth and light.”
But hearts grow cold and wander far,
And many turn away,
Choosing darkness over truth,
Refusing still to pray.
God looked down from heaven above
To see who sought His face,
To find a soul that longed for truth
And hungered after grace.
Yet all had stumbled from the path,
Like sheep that went astray,
For sin had stained the hearts of men
And led their steps away.
The wicked mocked the poor and weak,
Consumed them without care,
They lived as though no Judge would come,
No justice waiting there.
But suddenly their fear arose,
Their pride was brought to dust,
For God will shake the hearts of men
Who will not in Him trust.
Oh Zion, let salvation come,
Restore the hearts once torn,
Bring back the weary and the lost
To mercy’s brighter morn.
For though the world forgets the Lord
And turns from heaven above,
Still God extends His hand of grace
With everlasting love.
