Psalm 61

Lead Me to the Rock

When troubles rise like stormy seas,
And sorrow bends my weary knees,
I lift my heart and cry to Thee,
“O Lord, please hear and answer me.”

From distant lands my voice I raise,
Through darkest nights and cloudy days,
My heart is faint, my strength is gone,
Yet still I trust and journey on.

Lead me unto that Rock so high,
Above the storms that fill the sky,
A place of refuge, safe and strong,
Where fearful hearts can still belong.

For You have been my shelter sure,
My strong defence, secure and pure,
A tower standing through the years,
Unafraid of doubts or fears.

Beneath Your wings I long to stay,
To walk with You day after day,
To find within Your love and grace
The comfort of Your warm embrace.

When enemies surround my way,
And shadows seek to dim the day,
I know my God is standing near,
To calm my heart and still my fear.

Your mercy, Lord, shall be my song,
Your faithfulness my whole life long,
For every promise You have made
Will never fail, will never fade.

So I will praise Your holy name,
Through joy and grief, through loss and gain,
And daily bring my thanks to Thee,
For all You’ve done and yet will be.

When I am weak and cannot stand,
You gently hold me by the hand,
And lift me from life’s troubled sea—
My Rock, my Hope, my Victory.

Psalm 61 reminds us that when our hearts are overwhelmed, there is a Rock higher than ourselves, and His name is Jesus Christ.
