Psalm 84 – Better Is One Day
“Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere.” – Psalm 84:10
How lovely is Your dwelling place,
The glory of Your matchless grace.
My heart cries out, my soul would sing,
To worship Christ, my Lord and King.
My flesh and heart both long for Thee,
The One who died upon the tree.
No earthly treasure can compare,
With knowing, Lord, that You are near.
The sparrow finds a resting place,
Beneath the shadow of Your grace.
The swallow builds her little nest,
Close to the God who gives her rest.
How blessed are the saints who raise
Their voices high in songs of praise.
For day by day they gladly prove,
The riches of Your endless love.
Though valleys dark may cross our way,
And tears may fall throughout the day,
The Valley of our grief and pain,
You turn to streams of hope again.
From strength to strength Your children go,
As more of Christ they come to know.
Each step by faith, each trial won,
Until at last our race is done.
You’re like the sunlight after rain,
Bringing hope to hearts in pain.
Our Shield when storms around us roar,
Our faithful Friend forevermore.
One day within Your courts above,
Surpasses years devoid of love.
I’d rather serve with humble heart,
Than from Your presence live apart.
No good thing, Lord, will You withhold,
Your promises are pure as gold.
To those who walk upon Your way,
You’ll guide and keep them every day.
O Lord of Hosts, our hearts proclaim,
The wonder of Your holy Name.
Blessed are all who trust in Thee,
Both now and through eternity.
