Here’s a poem inspired by Psalms Psalm 87.

Psalm 87 – The City God Loves

Upon the holy mountain high,
Where earth meets Heaven’s endless sky,
The Lord has set His city fair,
His love and presence dwellings there.

“Glorious things,” the psalmist cried,
“Are spoken where the saints abide.”
Not built by stone nor gates alone,
But where God’s glory has been shown.

The kingdoms rise, the kingdoms fall,
Yet God remains the Lord of all.
His Kingdom stands through every age,
Unchanged upon life’s shifting stage.

From distant lands the people come,
To find in God their lasting home.
From every tribe and every race,
They gather by His saving grace.

No stranger now, no soul cast out,
No fear remains, no room for doubt.
For all who trust the Saviour’s name,
Become God’s children just the same.

Their names are written by His hand,
Secure within His promised land.
No earthly power can erase,
The record of His boundless grace.

The streams of mercy never cease,
They fill the heart with joy and peace.
Our strength, our hope, our song shall be,
“All my springs are found in Thee.”

One day we’ll see that city bright,
Its streets aglow with Heaven’s light.
No tears, no pain, no night to see,
For Christ Himself our Light shall be.

So lift your eyes and journey on,
The darkest night gives way to dawn.
For all who walk by faith today,
Will dwell with Christ in endless day.

“Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God.” — Psalm 87:3
