Constructive Criticism vs Destructive Criticism
The Power of Words
There are words that build a bridge,
And words that build a wall,
There are words that lift a weary heart,
And words that make it fall.
Constructive criticism lends a hand,
It helps us find the way,
It points out where we might improve,
Yet cheers us on each day.
“Try again, you’ll make it yet,”
Its gentle voice will say,
“Keep pressing on, don’t lose your hope,
A brighter lies ahead today.”
Destructive criticism wounds the soul,
It tears and breaks apart,
It throws its stones without a care,
And leaves a heavy heart.
Criticism sees a fault and says,
“This action is not right,”
Yet seeks a better path ahead,
And points us toward the light.
Condemnation speaks much harsher words,
And judges who we are,
Forgetting every soul can change,
And every wound can scar.
The Lord who sees our every flaw,
Still loves us through and through,
He does not cast His children off,
But makes their hearts brand new.
So let your words be filled with grace,
Like sunshine after rain,
For gentle words can heal a soul,
And ease another’s pain.
Build others up and not tear down,
Let kindness be your aim,
For words once spoken cannot return,
And lives are not a game.
