Poem- Daddy Were Are You
Daddy, Where Are You?
Daddy, where are you tonight?
I keep my little lamp alight.
I look outside beside the door,
And hope you’ll come like once before.
Your chair still sits beside the wall,
I hear your name, I softly call.
The house feels quiet, cold and blue,
Daddy, I still miss you.
I kept the drawing that I made,
The little games we used to play.
I hear the laughter in my mind,
But now it’s hard for me to find.
At school I smile and try my best,
But sadness pounds inside my chest.
The other children have their dad,
And sometimes that just makes me sad.
Did I do something that was wrong?
Was I not good enough all along?
Mummy says it’s not my blame,
But tears still fall when I hear your name.
I pray at night before I sleep,
For God my little heart to keep.
And if you’re far across the sea,
I hope you still remember me.
I miss your voice, I miss your hand,
I miss the way you’d help me stand.
Though days go by and years may fly,
A child still asks the question why.
Yet deep inside a tiny light,
Still flickers softly through the night.
That maybe one day love will shine,
And Daddy, you’ll come back to mine.
