Poem on Psalm chapter 52
Psalm 52 — The Olive Tree of Faith
A Rhyming Poem
Why boast in evil all the day,
And turn from truth to crooked way?
Why use the tongue to wound and tear,
And spread deceit instead of care?
The razor tongue, the lying word,
The hateful speech the Lord has heard,
For God above sees all that’s done,
Beneath the moon, beneath the sun.
The proud may trust in wealth and gold,
And think their strength will always hold,
But riches fade and kingdoms fall,
Yet God remains the Judge of all.
The wicked flourish for a while,
With hardened heart and boasting smile,
But like the grass they fade away,
And cannot stand God’s judgment day.
But David said with faith so free,
“I’m like God’s living olive tree,
Still planted firmly by His grace,
Still growing in His holy place.”
Though storms may rise and dark clouds roll,
God safely keeps the trusting soul,
His mercy flows both night and day,
His faithful love will never stray.
So plant your roots in Christ alone,
Upon the everlasting Stone,
For those who trust the Lord above,
Will flourish in eternal love.
Let not your heart grow hard with hate,
Or seek revenge to settle fate,
But walk in truth, let mercy shine,
And leave all judgment to Divine.
For God still sees, and God still cares,
He hears the cries, He knows the prayers,
And like the olive tree you’ll stand,
Forever held in His strong hand.
