A Poem on Psalm 54

“God Is My Helper”

Book of Psalms

When enemies gather all around,
And fear would pull my spirit down,
When those I trusted turn away,
Still God shall hear me when I pray.

Though darkness rises like the sea,
The Lord remains my victory,
For men may fail and hearts may stray,
But God is faithful every day.

“Save me, O Lord,” the Psalmist cried,
“With You alone I shall abide,”
No earthly sword nor strength of man
Can stop the working of God’s hand.

The proud may rise, the wicked speak,
And hunt the humble and the weak,
Yet Heaven watches from above,
And answers with redeeming love.

Behold! The Lord is by my side,
In Him alone I safely hide,
He lifts the weary, heals the torn,
And gives new strength to hearts worn down.

I need not walk the road alone,
For God still sits upon the throne,
He knows each tear, He feels each care,
And listens to His children’s prayer.

So I will praise Him through the fight,
Through every shadow, every night,
For even when I cannot see,
The Lord Himself walks close with me.

And when the battle finally ends,
I’ll thank the Lord who always defends,
For through the storm I clearly see:
My God has always helped me.
