Poem on Psalm Chapter 45
Psalm 45 — The King of Glory
A royal song of splendour bright,
Of truth and grace and holy light,
A King whose words are pure and wise,
Whose throne shall stand beyond the skies.
His lips pour forth with heaven’s grace,
Compassion shines upon His face,
The Lord has blessed Him from above,
A mighty King of truth and love.
Ride on in majesty and power,
Defending truth in every hour,
With righteousness His sword shall shine,
His kingdom holy and divine.
His sceptre stands upright and true,
No evil shall His reign undo,
For justice walks beside His throne,
And mercy crowns Him as His own.
Fair garments scented rich and rare,
With joy and music fill the air,
The courts rejoice, the people sing,
In honour of the glorious King.
The bride adorned in beauty bright,
Stands clothed in gold before His sight,
With humble heart and faithful song,
She walks with Him where saints belong.
Forget the past, draw near His side,
For He alone shall safely guide,
The King desires a heart sincere,
A soul that walks in holy fear.
Generation after generation tell,
The wonders of Emmanuel,
And nations yet unborn shall raise,
Their voices high in endless praise.
For Psalm Forty-Five still proclaims,
The glory of the King of kings,
A royal hymn of love divine,
Where earth and heaven together shine.
God is a good God.
God knows, God loves, God cares.
