Here’s a poem inspired by Psalm 86.

Psalm 86 – A Prayer of the Needy

O Lord, incline Your ear to me,
In all my need, my hope You be.
Though weak I stand and frail each day,
I know You’ll hear me when I pray.

You’re rich in mercy, full of grace,
I find my refuge in Your embrace.
No other god can take Your place,
For all creation sings Your praise.

Teach me Your way, Your truth impart,
Unite, O Lord, my wandering heart.
That I may fear Your holy Name,
And glorify You all the same.

The proud may rise and storms may roar,
Yet You are with me evermore.
Compassion fills Your loving hand,
You hold my life at Your command.

When tears like rivers freely flow,
Your peace is deeper still, I know.
Your faithful love will never cease;
You calm my soul with perfect peace.

From age to age Your wonders shine,
Your mercy and Your truth divine.
The nations one day all shall see,
That Christ alone sets sinners free.

So hear my cry, my Shepherd, King,
To You alone my soul shall cling.
Until I stand before Your throne,
To worship You—and You alone.

For every prayer the faithful raise,
You answer in Your perfect ways.
Psalm Eighty-Six will ever tell,
Our God does all things true and well.
