Faithful Still – Psalm 89
I’ll sing of mercies, rich and free,
That flowed through all eternity.
Before the stars adorned the sky,
God’s faithful love could never die.
His throne is built on truth and grace,
No power can ever take His place.
The heavens praise His mighty name,
Forever He remains the same.
He spoke to David long ago,
A promise all the world would know.
A royal throne, a kingdom sure,
His covenant would still endure.
Though kings may fall and nations fade,
God keeps each promise that He made.
His timing may seem slow to man,
Yet perfect is His sovereign plan.
There come the days when hearts grow weak,
When tears are all the words we speak.
We wonder, “Lord, how long must this
Replace the joy we dearly miss?”
Yet even when the night is long,
God gives the weary heart a song.
His silence is not His goodbye;
His love remains forever nigh.
For every promise finds its place
In Christ, who reigns through boundless grace.
The Son of David, Lord and King,
Of Him the saints will ever sing.
So though the storms around me roar,
I’ll trust my faithful God the more.
His Word is firm, His love secure,
His mercy shall forever endure.
Then let my voice with heaven blend,
To praise the God whose love won’t end.
With grateful heart my soul shall say,
“Lord, You are faithful every day.”
