Psalm 82

The Righteous Judge

The Judge of all the earth looks down,
Upon each robe and earthly crown.
He sees the truth men try to hide,
For nothing’s hidden from His eyes.

“How long,” He asks, “will justice fail?
Why let the wicked still prevail?
Why crush the weak, ignore their cry,
While truth and mercy slowly die?”

Defend the poor, the fatherless too,
Stand for the helpless—that is your due.
Lift up the fallen, help those in need,
For love is shown by every deed.

When justice fails, the land will shake,
Its very foundations start to break.
A nation built on lies and pride,
Cannot forever safely abide.

Though rulers boast of power and fame,
One day they’ll answer to God’s name.
For crowns will fall and thrones decay,
But God’s great kingdom stands for aye.

Then rises up the final prayer:
“O Lord, let all the earth declare.
Arise and judge with truth alone,
For every nation is Your own.”

So let our hearts be pure and true,
In all we think, in all we do.
For Christ shall come in majesty,
To reign through all eternity.

For justice flows from Heaven above,
United always with truth and love.
The Judge of all will never fail—His perfect righteousness shall prevail.
